Xylomews is a company formed by me, Paul Smith, to help promote my services in the IBM mainframe market.
I started working on IBM mainframes as a technical support programmer soon after leaving University. I had various jobs, including 6 years contracting through Altergo and Computer Resources, before going freelance in 1985. Since then I have worked mainly in the banking industry as an assembler, PL1 and COBOL analyst / programmer and, a long time ago, as a VSE and CICS systems programmer.
I have worked for several major banks installing and maintaining their SWIFT messaging systems, mostly based on IBM’s MERVA product.
Although I am now officially retired, I would be happy to take on some short-term / part-time work either working from my home in Hitchin, somewhere within daily commuting distance of home, or “somewhere nice”. I would be particularly interested in any SWIFT or Merva related work.
